Posted:September 11, 2019 at 9:51 am

Be it your first time visiting South Kensington or you simply want to get familiar with the local area, we want to make sure you’re up to speed on everything happening here on our doorstep. South Kensington has so much going on this September, something for the explorers, the romantics, the families and everyone else in between.

Boating on the Serpentine,  daily until 31 October

Row, row, row your boat gently across the Serpentine. As the balmy summer comes to a close, we want to make sure you soak up every last minute. Why not spend a romantic evening boating in Hyde Park. There are rowing and pedal boats to explore and the UK’s first Solarshuttle which is powered by the sun and carries up to 40 passengers across the glistening lake. Such a glorious experience in idyllic surrounds. Why not really treat yourself and take a little picnic and a bottle of fizz with you?

Stanley Kubrick: The Exhibition, until 17 September

If you’ve not yet seen this exhibition, then you’ve got about two weeks left to get yourself over to the Design Museum. Relive iconic scenes from The Shining, Eyes Wide Shut, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket and a whole lot more. Get inside the mind of the genius that was Stanley Kubrick to discover how he created such brilliance and made his creative ideas come to life. You will also learn about his strong connection to London. They don’t make them like this anymore.  Five stars all around!

London Design Festival, from 14-22 September

The first London Design Festival took place in 2003 and has gathered momentum ever since. The whole concept and vision of the festival are to promote and celebrate London as the design capital of the world. The event gives a platform for so many design stories to be told. There are some extremely impressive and mind-blowing projects to see at the V&A right here on our doorstep. This festival is one that will continue to intrigue, surprise and fascinate you.

Victoria: Woman and Crown, until January 2020

Why not pop along to the Queen Victoria exhibition at Kensington Palace. This exhibition marks the 200th anniversary since her birth. At 18 years old, Victoria found out that she was going to become Queen which is crazy to think about in this day and age. There are some unusual and rare pieces which will be on display from her personal wardrobe, one of which is a pair of fashionable silver boots. It seems there was more to Queen Victoria than her long black garments. Victoria was also born and raised at Kensington Palace which really adds to the whole experience. This exhibition is running until January 2020.

Museum of the Moon, until 5 January 2020

This is one for all the family. This is a touring piece of artwork which will be on display at the Natural History Museum until January 2020. It has been 50 years since humans walked on the moon. To mark the occasion, there are lots of lunar events taking place across London, one of which is a six-metre installation by artist Luke Jarram. The glowing sculpture is a sight to behold and will certainly light up your day and have you moonwalking all the way home!

Mary Quant, until February 2020

We are all about the exhibitions this month in South Kensington and why the hell not as they’re all seriously impressive. All you have to do is walk down the road to see them. Mary Quant was one serious fashion trailblazer. She started an unforgettable fashion revolution, the woman was and still is ahead of her time, a true living legend. She brought miniskirts and hot pants to the British people and for that, we salute her. This exhibition at the V&A displays more than 200 vibrant items and unseen pieces from her personal collection.
