The Best Bars Around South Kensington

Posted:July 16, 2022 at 10:38 pm

It’s no surprise that South Kensington, one of London’s most sought-after, affluent areas also has a great drinking scene. Whether you want to paint the town red, mingle with cocktails, or relax with a craft beer, Kensington bars have something for you.

Nam Long

Trends come a go, but Nam Long has remained resolute to the changes over the last 35 years.

It plays host to many night owls to the Chelsea locals. Besides the unmatched ambience, this is also the birthplace of the infamous “Flaming Ferrari.” The cocktail that holds its own legacy and has pawned countless imitations around the world.

K Bar

Sitting on the corner of Queensgate and Old Brompton Road is The Kensington Hotel, part of The Doyle Collection.

Bustling and full of life its K Bar is always busy and it’s rare to find a table free come cocktail hour. Still there is a relaxed atmosphere and you can settle into their comfy leather armchairs and watch the world go by.

Aqua Spirit

If you are in the Oxford Circus area of London looking for a good cocktail or two, give Aqua Spirit a visit. The interior bar has a chic international style with a dark, sexy bar, circular in shape and ideal for perching and people watching.

If you are one for cocktails then the drinks on offer here certainly reflect their price tag, and although the views are not as good as some rooftop bars in London we would recommend giving this a try.

Gordon’s Wine Bar

Gordon’s Wine Bar has quenched the thirst of wine lovers for over 130 years. Close to Covent Garden and London’s Theatreland, it’s one of our favourite hidden gems.

And of course, cheese is a given. In fact, there are over 15 cheeses to choose from!

Publiq

The opening of Publiq during the pandemic changed everything in South Kensington. It’s the perfect neighbourhood bar – great cocktails, great atmosphere, and innovative food. They have a heated covered terrace (with blankets), a ground floor lounge and a dining room which you can hire at your hearts content.

Beaufort House Chelsea

This private members’ club in West London is spread across four floors, with a chic atmosphere to enjoy late-night drinking sessions. When it comes to refreshments, expect handcrafted concoctions, fine wine and a choice of Champagne if you’re in the mood to celebrate.

Callooh Callay

Looking for places to drink on the Kings Road? Callooh Callay is one cool cocktail bar in West London, bringing a list of signature creations and vintage classics to its Chelsea home. And if you get peckish, there’s light bits of ceviche and South American specials to delve into.

Freud

Below the pavement of Shaftesbury Avenue, at the top of Monmouth Street, down a flight of steps into a high-ceilinged basement, the Freud café has been serving legendary cocktails and much else besides since 1986. In the evenings it comes alive with London buzz.
