An October day spent in London is good for the soul. It’s the perfect month to walk around and explore the city as the rustic leaves fall from the trees and indulge in all things cosy.
With half-term, Halloween and lots of stellar events lined up, we would like to give you a flavour of what events are happening in South Kensington this month. October, take it away…
1. Albert Oehlen
This is a new major exhibition taking place at the Serpentine Gallery. If you’re into contemporary art, then this exhibition is not to be missed. Oehlen is an artist who engages with the history of painting with his fascinating and distinctive works and has been a key figure in the contemporary art world since the 1980s.
His exhibition will present four new paintings as well as a selection of his works from the past twenty years.

2. Crime Scene Live
Ever fancied yourself as a bit of a detective and thought you could give Sherlock Holmes a run for his money? Ok, you’ve got the job. Your mission is to solve a mysterious murder and catch the ruthless killer. Forensic experts will be on-site to help you every step of the way. Leave no stone unturned.

3. Magical Museum Sleepover
Get the October half-term off to a flying start with a sleepover in the at the V&A museum. This is not your average sleepover as there will be enchanting activities and lots of magical madness. You will sleep in the galleries amongst the glorious objects. A once in a lifetime experience.

4. Royal Parks Half Marathon
This is one of the most picturesque half marathons in London. Whether you’re a participant or a spectator, it’s the perfect occasion to take in the stunning parks of central London which include, Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens. The course will pass iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace and the Royal Albert Hall. 13.1 miles showcasing London’s true beauty.

5. Julio Iglesias
The man, the myth, the legend. This is set to be a special one as Julio Iglesias returns to the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate 50 years of music. He’s sold more than 250 million records worldwide and is performing for one night only.

6. Beazley Designs of the Year
Discover works of art at the Design Museum as you will get an insight into what the future looks like through fashion, architecture, digital, graphic design and a whole lot more. From the wacky to the wonderful, you’ll discover a whole host of impressive designs that will trigger thought and fascination. It may even change the way you see the world.
